Trout
Fishing
While some has changed in and around the
rural Vermont landscape , the fishing has only gotten better! Unlike
past practices, VT Fish & Wildlife now stocks several lakes and rivers
with trophy brown & rainbow trout. These fish range in size from 16
inches to over 25 inches long! Our anglers average several trout every
year, either through ice angling or during the regular season, that are
over 10lbs. Some of these larger fish are not stocked and are simply
large natives that have survived for well over two decades.
Fly fishing is one of
the sports that has made Vermont Outdoor Connections famous. We
privately keep three stocked trout ponds each stocked with either brown,
brook or rainbow trout. Fishing for these trout requires a new set of
techniques and a subtle approach. The private trout ponds can be
accessed all season with your choice of baits, lures or flies. Mainly a
catch and release fishery, a trophy trout can be harvested for an
additional fee.
Aside from pond
angling, we also guide along some of the best trout rivers in Vermont
and New Hampshire. These include: The White, Black, Castleton, Mettawee,
Battenkill, Poultney Ammonoosuc, Mascoma and Otter Creek. Our one mile
plus of private water on the White River offers access to all trout
fishing scenarios that hone an angler’s craft.
Since our inception we
have not had an angler who has not at least hooked a trout during one of
our river trout trips.
Nick’s book:
Trout
Fishing The Northeast, Creative Publishing 2009 highlights many of these
rivers and explains how to best prepare prior to making the trip with
us.
If you find a fly
pattern during your trip that you can’t leave without, Nick is a
production tier, and is happy to tie any pattern to your order.
