Upland Hunts
Does the cool whisper of an October wind
excite your every nerve? Does the flush of a woodcock underfoot or a
grouse blistering through a cover make you want more? Then hunting
Vermont uplands is sure to impress. Vermont grouse populations are very
healthy and numbers, while tending to slightly fluctuate depending on
the area, are quite good. While we keep a daily average of flushes, we
have days where flushes are more numerous or less, depending on weather
and conditions. However the case, our bird
hunters never leave without pulling the trigger!
Not limiting ourselves
to specific or overhunted covers, Vermont Outdoor Connections utilizes
not only state and federal lands but also private covers to ensure our
hunters are given the best flushes possible. We take our hunters to
covers throughout Rutland and Addison county, hunting only the best bird
spots. Utilizing either our finished german shorthair pointers, or
flushing birds by foot, we offer an average of 6 to 7 flushes per
morning. If dog work is what brings you back year after year, our
pointers have been professionally trained and work close to the hunter
to ensure the best chance at success.
Have a bird dog that has a few
flaws? Bringing your own dog is also acceptable and our guides can work
with you and your dog in the field.
Be prepared for long
walks and a good work out. We can tailor our bird hunts to exactly what
you are looking for, however some walking is always required.
Light footwear and
appropriate briar proof clothing is recommended. Covers can become thick
and thorns numerous.
