Waterfowl Hunts
The hunting in and around the Lake’s
Region is some of the best available. Being the largest lake completely
within the state, Lake Bomoseen offers its assistance as a migration
route for many waterfowl species. Since our inception, Our hunters have
taken almost all the puddle duck species inhabiting the Atlantic Flyway,
and many diver species including: bufflehead, goldeneye, scaup (Blue
Bills), common and hooded mergansers, canvasback and others from this
area. As a bonus, we have taken a few species of sea ducks that have
used the lake to rest before heading further south. The goose hunting
within the Lake’s Region is truly topnotch! Having the opportunity to
limit out on early-season Canada geese from the water is a common
occurrence. An extremely high resident goose population on both Lake
Bomoseen and Lake Champlain supplies plenty of early season action. Once
crop fields are accessible, we often move our hunts to field scenarios
with spreads of Carry-Lite decoys. However, until there is food
available, all waterfowl are pursued on the water. Late season waterfowl
action heats up from late October through the middle of December, or
until waters freeze. Both ducks and geese can be harvested during this
later season. Hunting for greater Canadas, snow geese and divers makes
the fall memorable. As later arctic storms force waterfowl further
south, some of our more unique species are found and taken. These
species include: widgeon, canvasbacks, redheads, pintails and gadwalls.
Our waterfowl hunting is not limited
to just Lake Bomoseen. We also have excellent blinds on many different
hunting locations including: East Creek, southern Lake Champlain, the
Connecticut River and several other potholes and waterways. In any of
our blinds, we are able to offer a 100% opportunity on all waterfowl
hunts.
If hunting over a decoy spread and
calling is not for you, we also offer pass shooting and jump shooting
opportunities for most species of waterfowl that will hone any wing
shooter’s skills.
Note* All waterfowl hunts include coffee and donuts
while waiting for the morning or afternoon flight!
Nick's first book:
